Dell’s new E6500? Not recommended.

For about 1500 USD I recently bought an E6500 notebook. In my opinion it’s rather a desaster.

These are the problems you will buy for your money:

- Loud fan
- Defective fan (it never turns off)
- Loud hard drive noise (even the slower 5400 rpm)
- C2D CPU Whining
- Customer support is friendly but offered no real solution
- Sales rep said he won’t take back the notebook because I bought it with my business account = no warranty for what I would call a DOA.
- Sales rep offers no upgrades or something to lessen my pain with this defective notebook

Unfortunately Ebay users seem to know about Dells harsh quality problems therefore even at a substantially lower price I did not find a buyer.

But there is something to learn from this. Stick to the known goods. If its about a Notebook, buy a IBM Thinkpad or an Apple MacBook.

While I heard Dell support is great, this has to be in the premium business. The Dell support I witnessed was rather unimpressive at best.
