Upgrade old DDR RAM on AMD system

I needed to upgrade old DDR1 RAM.

With most boards this means one has to stick to single sided DRAM. This will prevent problems like dual channel adressing or timing related issues.

I found out that problems are looming if you own RAM of different vendors.

My RAMs from MDT are double sided and my Crucials are single sided. 2x2 double sided RAM does not work therefore I bought single sided Crucial RAM for my AMD 939 socket running on a nVidia chipset.

Update October 2010:
The system is still up and running and I changed the single core CPU to a X2 Processor on ebay. With 2GB or RAM the system is running at its highest possible configuration now. In my opinion this should do for another year or two.
